Apparently legalizing gay marriage is a big deal in the US (I'm European),and that is a bit puzzling to me.
Considering that the following words are part of the Declaration of Independence "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." gays should not have had to fight for this.
However this is a common problem that happens because people tend to confuse Church and State.
